Kismet
Wikipedia says: “Kismet is a word derived from Turkish and Hindi-Urdu, meaning fate or destiny, a predetermined course of events.”
To me, Kismet is a painting I made last Fall and I sort of fell in love with it.
As to why I made it, I guess you could say that at that point I felt like things were getting a little bit out of my control. Made me think – is it really all in our hands, or do we think it is?

Incredible painting. Personally, I don’t want fate to take me for a ride, but I don’t want to leave it behind either.
Whatever that means :)
I know what it means. But you have to let “fate” take over once in a while. I think it is too exhusting to have things “under your control” all the time. Someone once said: “Those who don’t believe in coincidence don’t believe in destiny either, but those who don’t believe in destiny are not the masters of their own.” Or something like it. Yeah, whatever that means :)
Anyways, thanx Joseph! :)
This is quite a lovely painting. Love the concept!
thank you Jessica :)
Wow this is great painting! I’m getting an intense love and hate relationship between you and kismet… you want to be in control of your future/desitny and at the same time you don’t.
:)
Thank you Didiita, and I think you’re right :)
Beautiful. Good Day Nonoy Manga
“kismet” means nothing more than “the distributed” (by god, Allah) – means there is nothing to add – & which power is more capable to fulfill this “sheer existence”? – let´s enjoy when happens! btw – the style of your painting evokes Karagöz & Hacivat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karag%C3%B6z_and_Hacivat)
That’s genuinely beautiful work. I love it!
Thank you, this one is one of my favorites too :)
